Beta release: DocsFlow 2.0 beta 3 for InDesign CS5/CS5.5/CS6

July 24, 2013 by

This beta introduces Pro and non-Pro-level licensing, adds visual indicators to DocsFlow-managed stories, increases import flexibility, and addresses issues found during testing.

The big news with this release is the introduction of DocsFlow Pro. A Pro-level license, available now, will unlock the full capabilities of DocsFlow 2.0, including spreadsheet import and all of our newly-added support for exporting Adobe InDesign stories to Google Docs. When DocsFlow 2.0 ships, we’ll continue to sell DocsFlow (non-Pro) licenses for $200 and will offer DocsFlow Pro licenses, with support for spreadsheets and story export, for $400.

The even better news is that all DocsFlow licenses purchased prior to 2.0’s release have been and will be Pro licenses. If you have already purchased a DocsFlow license, we thank you! What you have is already a Pro license and you’ll continue to have access to both spreadsheet imports and story exports. If not, and you intend to use DocsFlow 2.0’s new features, now would be a great time to make that purchase: you’ll save $200 and have the opportunity to help us shape the final product.

Changes

  • Adds support for Pro-level licenses. A Pro license is now required to import Google spreadsheets and to use any of 2.0’s new export machinery. See notes above for licensing details.
  • Adds settings for ignoring underline, strikethrough, superscript, and subscript character attributes to the Import Options dialog.
  • Adds a DocsFlow icon to the frame of all Google Docs-linked stories.
  • Fixes a problem with exported stories where InDesign-only elements (like index entries) were disappearing with the next update.
  • Fixes the Edit Original and Visit Original items within DocsFlow menus so that they’re only enabled for DocsFlow-managed links.
