Release: InCatalog 6/7.2.9.1 for InDesign CS4/5/5.5

August 9, 2011 by

This release of InCatalog improves link editing at an insertion point, and fixes several bugs.

Changes

  • Catalog links can now be applied to and cleared from the text insertion point, just like native InDesign attributes.
  • Fixed a problem where updating data from an unstyled price could cause a crash.
  • Fixed a problem where selecting deleted text in the story editor could cause a crash.
  • Fixed a scripting issue with accessing the ‘catalog link data’ property.

The feature change here is that we’ve made link editing behave more like other attributes (typeface, font size, etc.), where you can apply the link to (or clear it from) the insertion point and then start typing. If you’ve set a link on the insertion point, it will be applied to the typed text. If you’ve cleared the link (selected Field: (No Link) on the linker palette), then no link will be on the typed text.

If you use keyboard shortcuts for applying links (InCatalog > Preferences > User Interface > Field hot keys), you might consider adding a keyboard shortcut for the InCatalog > Clear All Links > in Selection action to, say, the keypad 0 key. Hitting this key would then clear any link from the insertion point as well.
