Release: DocsFlow 2.17 for InDesign CS5–CC2019

May 1, 2019 by

This release centralizes import settings, improves support for hyperlinks and cross-references, and enhances product stability.

Changes

  • Moves where the Import Options dialog’s settings and presets are stored from the version-specific folders

    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version #/en_US/DocsFlow Import Options (macOS)
    <user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version #\en_US\DocsFlow Import Options (Windows)

    to the product-centric folders

    ~/Library/Application Support/Em Software/DocsFlow/Import Options (macOS)
    <user>\AppData\Roaming\Em Software\DocsFlow\Import Options (Windows)

so that they will, from now on, be shared between versions and be preserved when updating to the next (major) InDesign release.

DocsFlow will automatically move your existing settings and presets to their new home the next time you visit the Import Options dialog or Place a Google Docs document.

  • Adds a Relink to Google Docs… menu entry to the Links panel menu’s list of Relink choices so that it’s easier to find.
  • Works around a bug in InDesign 14.0.2 that was causing the application to freeze when saving a preset or naming a style in the Import Options dialog. (macOS only)
  • Adds support for Google Docs hyperlinks to headings that are in the same document.
  • Adds an option for ignoring the color of cell edges when placing from Google Docs.
  • Prevents the import of unused colors such that they no longer show up in the Swatches panel.
  • Works around a long-standing InDesign bug that was replacing the occasional paragraph break with a paragraph separator character in exported and updated stories. While the CC 2019 14.0.2 release fixes the problem for CC 2019 (see 4th bullet, “Paragraph Return (\r) changes to ‘paragraph separator’…”), the bug remains in all previous versions (back to CS5).
  • Fixes a problem where updating two or more links at the same time (like with Update All Links) could produce false “Edits have been made…” warnings.
  • Fixes a problem that was disabling Update Linked Google Docs Document in a linked story’s context menu until its link was selected in the Links panel.
  • Fixes a problem where cross-references to documents saved in folders other than the main document’s folder could show with a Missing status after a link update. (macOS only)
  • Fixes a problem where a link update could cause a previously-good cross-reference to suddenly have a missing destination. (macOS only)
  • Fixes a problem where a cross-reference could be split or duplicated when updating a story.
  • Fixes a problem that could adversely affect InDesign’s performance when working with hyperlinks and cross-references.
  • Fixes a problem where the wrong Text Wrap setting could be applied to images during a Place or Update.
  • Fixes a problem introduced back in the 2.14.3 release that could cause an update of some stories to fail with a TypeError.
