Release: Xdata 4.10 for QuarkXPress 2017/2018/2019

July 18, 2019 by

This release of Xdata adds support for QuarkXPress 2019 and discontinues support for QuarkXPress 2016.

Changes

  • Adds support for QuarkXPress 2019. If you already have an Xdata license for QuarkXPress 2018, your license will continue to work with QuarkXPress 2019. Otherwise, please visit the Em Software online store to purchase an Xdata upgrade license for QuarkXPress 2019.
  • Removes support for QuarkXPress 2016. While we’ll no longer fix problems in or add features to this older version, we will otherwise provide normal support indefinitely.
  • Supports arbitrary utf-8-encoded Unicode characters within Macintosh- and Windows-encoded text files. We improved on the policy adopted in the 4.9 release, where a single, embedded utf-8-encoded character would automatically — and sometimes problematically — upgrade the whole file’s encoding to Unicode, by retaining the original encoding and processing any Unicode characters as one-offs. This change allows legacy files containing both special, “high-ASCII” characters and new-style, utf-8-encoded Unicode characters to import without producing an error.
  • Gives an alert when invalid Unicode characters have been replaced with the Unicode replacement character (U+FFFD) during an import.
