MacOS 10.15 Catalina Compatibility
We’re pleased to announce the immediate compatibility of all of our Adobe InDesign CC and QuarkXPress products with macOS 10.15 Catalina. Our installers for WordsFlow, DocsFlow, InData, InCatalog, and Xtags for Adobe InDesign versions CC through CC 2019, and our installable archives for Xdata, Xcatalog, and Xtags for QuarkXPress 2017 through 2019, now put in place signed and certified products that will work with Catalina’s enhanced Gatekeeper to provide a secure, malware-free experience.
Download these macOS products from their side-bar links and install them just as you always have. (One minor difference: Catalina’s Gatekeeper will want an active internet connection for the installation for it’s verification step.)
Products we provide for older versions of InDesign (CS6 and older) and QuarkXPress (10 and older) are 32-bit and therefore not compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. If you are using one of these versions, please be sure to fully explore the consequences of updating to 10.15 Catalina before committing.

InDesign Rejects Custom Excel Cell Ranges
We’ve recently discovered that InDesign’s Excel import filter has a weird, long-standing bug where it won’t accept a custom Cell Range if the sheet contains exactly 26 columns (or a multiple of 26 columns). While it’s annoying if you run into this problem while Placing a sheet with WordsFlow, it’s downright insidious if you run into it while updating a linked sheet.

Connecting with FileMaker Pro 16
On macOS, our InCatalog and Xcatalog data linking products use a technology called Apple Events to make a direct, non-odbc connection with FileMaker Pro. Unfortunately, FileMaker Pro 16’s new Extended Privilege security setting disables support for this type of connection by default. So while InCatalog 2.19 (or later) and Xcatalog 3.10 (or later) support FileMaker Pro 16, they may fail to establish a connection with a fresh installation of it or may fail with an error like
The on-line access of field ‘price’ (subfield ‘0’, key ‘xyz’, data descriptor ‘MyDD.txt’, map ‘’) failed: error -10004 ()
when attempting to update with it.
